They assist party litigants who have had no contact with an advice agency or solicitor. A large number of clients are people facing eviction from their Local Authority tenancy. The Bureau regularly negotiates on their behalf to set up arrangements to allow the tenant to stay in their home. We also offer a Mediation service using trained independent mediators as an alternative to court action in an attempt to resolve civil disputes without going to court. The Edinburgh Branch Of Parkinson's Disease Society The Edinburgh Branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society has contracted the Bureau to deliver a home-visiting service to their members to ensure they are aware of all the services and welfare benefits that are available to them. Surgery Service North West Edinburgh Local Health Care Co-operative (NWEL HCC) have contracted the Bureau to deliver an advice service in Ladywell East and West medical centres and at South Queensferry health centre. The idea behind the service is that solving people's family, health, money and employment problems encourages better health and results in fewer visits to the doctors and less reliance on medicine.
